Frank Lampard Biography

A midfield player who is one of the most talented players in English football today, playing an influential role for both Chelsea and England.

Frank developed in the West Ham United Academy and made his debut for the Hammers in January 1996. Over the next five years he established himself as a key member of the team helping the club achieve their best League finish to date, and making his England debut against Belgium in October 1999.

In 2001 Frank signed for Chelsea, and has since become synonymous with the club, netting over 185 goals to place him third in the Blues’ all-time goalscorers and, as of the start of the 2012-13 season, just 16 goals short of the club’s record. He has often shown the useful knack of finding the net in the biggest of matches, notably scoring twice to seal the club’s first League title in 50 years in 2004-05.

His all-action midfield style, allied with great technical ability and a relentless work ethic, has made him one of the most effective players in the Barclays Premier League. Frank missed four months of the 2010-11 club season with injury, by far the longest layoff of his Chelsea career, but completed his career set of trophies by getting his hands on the UEFA Champions League in May 2012 after the Blues defeated Bayern Munich.

An England regular, he currently has 91 caps, featuring in the 2010 World Cup finals, but missing Euro 2012 due to injury.
