Robin van Persie Biography
Robin van Persie is a gifted striker who joined Arsenal from Feyenoord in May 2004.
Blessed with outstanding technical ability and a powerful and accurate shot, he has developed into one of the finest attacking talents in Europe. With the sale of Thierry Henry, he took on the mantle as goal getter for Arsenal and has thrived.
Leading the line has proved no problem and goals have arrived in their plenty, but niggling injuries have often restricted his availability. He had a quiet time in the first half of 2010-11 as he recovered from the World Cup, but was in superb form from the new year, netting a Premier League hat-trick against Wigan and finishing as the Gunners’ leading scorer for the season.
In August 2011 he was appointed as Arsenal's club captain after the departure of Cesc Fabregas. Robin is also a key player for the Netherlands, for whom he has won more than 50 caps, including an appearance in the 2010 World Cup final where they went down 1-0 to Spain.
Robin was triple Player of the Year in 2011/12 winning the PFA Players Player, The PFA Fans' Player and the FWA Footballer of the Year awards. In August 2012 he signed for Manchester United.
